We are asked many questions about how best to
look after a carpet. With our years of experience,
you can trust us to have the right answers!
Should I wait as long as possible
before having my carpet cleaned?
Is the only reason to clean my
carpet to make it look nice?
Are all carpet cleaning methods
equally effective?
Can anyone clean my carpets providing
they have the right equipment?
Surely I should just pick the
company that offers the lowest price?
Can you give me an exact quotation
over the phone?
Do you offer a full money-back
guarantee?
Should I wait as long
as possible before having my carpet cleaned?
No. Dirt is an abrasive, like sandpaper. Every
time you step on your carpet, you grind dirt
into the carpet fibres - cutting them. This
cutting causes your carpet to wear out faster.
While vacuuming helps, it is simply not enough.
The longer you wait to have your carpet cleaned,
the more damage you do to it and the faster
it wears out.
Is the only reason
to clean my carpet to make it look nice?
No. As you probably know, outdoor air contains
pollens, fungus, bacteria, air pollution, cigarette
smoke, car exhaust - and hundreds of other chemicals.
When you come inside you carry all these pollutants
on your hair, clothing and skin. Not surprisingly,
they end up trapped in your carpet - cleaning
is the only effective way to get them out.
Are all carpet cleaning
methods equally effective?
No. Dry cleaning methods do not rinse your carpet
in any way. Instead they may leave a dirty residue.
The most effective method is hot water extraction
- the technique used by ServiceMaster Cambridge.
Hot water extraction means that a hot water
cleaning solution is forced under high pressure
into your carpet - and then extracted using
suction.
Many major manufacturers and retailers - including
Allied Carpets, Royal Wilton, Axminster Carpets,
Harrods, Next and Habitat - recommend ServiceMaster
to clean their products.
Can anyone clean my
carpets providing they have the right equipment?
No. Many companies own hot water systems but
do not train their staff correctly to use them.
The best cleaning companies are certified by
the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration
- this means their staff are properly trained
and supervised. Look for the IICRC logo on the
quotation. ServiceMaster Cambridge has full
IICRC certification.
Surely I should just
pick the company that offers the lowest price?
No. There are many problems with low-cost services.
The most common one is that they simply will
not deliver a proper cleaning service - they
remove the visible dirt but leave behind all
the bacteria, pollen and other chemicals that
can cause health problems. Also beware of companies
that quote very low prices then add on "extras"
once they are inside your house.
Can you give me an
exact quotation over the phone?
Sorry but it is very unlikely unless we have
visited your home or business before. For first
time customers, we prefer to make a site visit
to measure up and check the condition of the
carpets.
Do you offer a full
money-back guarantee?
Yes. We pride ourselves in the quality of our
work and believe that customers should not have
to pay for work that they are not entirely satisfied
with.
